On August 30-31, 2011, Olivier Adam, UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative visited Ternopil Oblast.
In the course of his visit, Olivier Adam met with Mr. Yuri Zhelikhovsky, Deputy Head and Chief of Staff of the Oblast State Administration, and Serhiy Tarashevsky, First Deputy Chairman of Oblast Council to discuss the results of implementation of CBA-I and common tasks for CBA-II and opportunities for cooperation with international donors in Ternopil oblast.
On August 31, UNDP Resident Representative visited the village of Uvysla in Husiatynsky rayon, where two micro projects were implemented within CBA-I: repair of local outpatient clinic (to the total of UAH 199.700), and replacement of windows and doors in the school (total budget of UAH 160.600).
The visitors met with the representatives of the "Dobrobut" community organisation, which implemented those initiatives. During their visit to the outpatient clinic, the guests also familiarised themselves with the operation of the primary health care practical training center, based at the repaired outpatient clinics, which was established by the Ternopil Medical University in accordance with its agreement with the Village Council. Olivier Adam was interested in seeing the physical infrastructure of the clinic and the training center, created by joint efforts of international donors, state authorities and communities at the high school; he talked with patients from among local residents and representatives of the Medical University, and noted the unique nature and usefulness of such cooperation.
He also thanked Ms. Nadiya Hoptyan, Head of the Rayon Council, for the support to initiatives by the Husyatyn area community, which successfully implemented 8 micro projects during the first phase of the “Community-Based Local Development" project.
